  • 2 pounds of potatoes
  • 2 cups (1/2 l) whole milk
  • 1 garlic clove
  • Salt, pepper, nutmeg
  • 2 teaspoons (10g) butter for the dish


  • 1 gratin/baking dish
  • Optional: stand mixer with slicer attachment


  1. Wash and peel the potatoes then cut into thin slices (about an 1/8 inch).
  2. Arrange a layer of potatoes in a buttered gratin dish

    Season with the salt, pepper, nutmeg and crushed garlic
  3. Cover with a second layer of potatoes, then pour the milk over the potatoes

    Bake at 320 ° F for about 1 hour 30 minutes.

Final Thoughts...

Low temperature + long cook time = nice tender potatoes :)
