It's an easy recipe for an aperitif!
Ingredients
- 2 tomatoes
- 2 mozzarella balls
- 8 thin slices of country style bread (pain de campagne)
- 8 thin slices of Parma ham
- Olive oil
- Fresh basil (or parsley, if no basil)
Cookware
- A toaster

An oven with a rack for broiling
Preparation
- Cut the tomatoes in half.
- Cut the mozzarella into large rounds and then slice into smaller sticks.
- Toast the slices of bread in a toaster.
- Rub the tomato slices on the toasted bread.
- Fold the ham and place it on top of the bread. The ham should not be bigger than the slice of bread.
- Put a mozzarella stick in the hollow space of each fold of the ham.
- Sprinkle with basil or parsley.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).
- Place the bread slices on an oven-proof dish and drizzle with olive oil.
- Broil for 10 minutes.
